It is such a pleasure to teach the 1C class! Both of us enjoy each and every one of our scholars, and love when they tell us what they enjoyed learning about that day! UNIFORM ALERT: - Please make sure that your scholar’s name is clearly written on all Archway sweaters and jackets. ACADEMICS: Spalding – Students will learn 11 new words on Monday, 9 new words on Tuesday, and 10 new words on Wednesday. We will review the words on Thursday. The spelling test is on Friday. Math – Methods of subtraction. Homework - Students must be doing Xtramath at least 3 times each week (they get a weekly grade, plus an overall completion grade at the end of the quarter. NOTE – they should be at least at 50% completion by the end of next week, October 4.) Science – States of matter A review sheet was placed in your scholar’s red folder. We will be reviewing in class on Tuesday. The test is Wednesday. On Thursday, we will start the electricity unit (that test will be next week on Thursday, October 3.) Literature – Owl at Home Grammar – Common and proper nouns Poetry – “The Little Turtle” by Vachel Lindsay. (Poetry recitations begin on Monday, September 30.) UPCOMING DATES: Tuesday, September 24 – PSO Night at Culver’s, 5-8 pm (1025 N. Hello to all of you who made my birthday a Great joy! The best part of all was watching all the scholars enjoying the great snacks and drinks together with myself and Mrs Schulder. We love you all and all that you do for us and our scholars. Have a great week!

Math - Subtraction, identifying how addition and subtraction are related "Friendly Notes" will be going home in the homework folders on Wednesday. Please keep them for your records and use the information as a reference when helping your child with math homework. This week focus on the first and second stanza.
